Our annual trek into the wild…approximately 80 feet from our cars, has grown into a tradition of fine style and fine food. We are no longer camping in the wild; it is far too glamorous to simply be called ‘camping’. We are Glamping. We are people who glamp. We are glampers. It is the newest trend in outdoor living and we have been doing it for years. Each August, our friends gather and we carry in more and more, leaving our hosts Mark and Killeen Alston in a state of awe and total frustration as they see us unpack down comforters, chandeliers, and end tables.
It’s how we live. We can’t help but create a lounge wherever we go. Providing some extra beautification even within Mother Nature. Our mission is to sexify, style up, and generally improve the space in which we find ourselves.
This year we featured painter tarps as our material of choice to cover tables. We made a teepee to entertain the kids while we were eating and ate on tables made of stacked drift wood with a glass top. The setting was beautiful. Jugs with purple thistle plucked along the path and the food brought to table by Mark and Killeen was a culinary experience to be remembered. As owners of the Bayou in Salt Lake City, they know how to impress a crowd! They cook outside like we glamp outside – nothing short of fabulous!
Load out wasn’t as fun as load in, however. Striking a fabulous set is always a bit painful. We sometimes wonder why we make the effort. Then, we realize it’s simply what we do and who we are. Next year, GLAMPING SHERPAS!
