Our friend, Julie Hopkins, real estate agent over at Keller Williams gave us the inside scoop on our trip to Palm Springs Modernism Week 2016. Full of fantastic design and incredible home tours, her photo gallery is a sweet glimpse into that high-design life out in the desert. From a splashy Palm Springs mid-century vision designed by the late architect Donald Wexler, to interior decor details that made us regret that she didn’t pack us in her suitcase. So here it is, the PUREfourhundred inside scoop on this and other classic mid-century properties in the heart of old Hollywood.
The Mid-Century Modern movement (that ever-so popular home design style in Palm Springs) utilizes natural light and space as its key ingredients. The MCM trademarks include ultra-modern shapes, pops of color and stripped down interiors. The Wexler property, (featured here in this LA Times article), is unique in that it was erected in the Movie Colony, Palm Springs’ old Hollywood wonder neighborhood. This property sits on almost a half-acre of Frank Sinatra’s estate and boasts floor to ceiling windows, an indoor atrium and water feature as well as sleek Terrazzo floors. The floating fireplace is the perfect spot to cozy up with the dirtiest martini while watching reruns of Mad Men.
The gallery below are some of the highlights from the Modernism Week home tours, taken by Julie. Gallery walls, abstract lighting fixtures, modern furniture stylings, and of course, that Hollywood glam. Loving this style?
