TULIE BAKERY

Words by Brett Bluth

Tulie bakery is the winner of all things crusty, buttery, savory, and with sweet-filled goodness.
Located in the popular shopping district of 9th & 9th in Salt Lake City, Tulie has garnered the cities top awards and is a Sunday hot spot where the favorite crust you seek has often already been crunched.
When our culture and street team selected Tulie for our Gastro editorial, I knew I had to write this editorial myself.
Two years ago I left the hospital with a newborn baby girl.  After a decade of trying to adopt, a little baby found me just after I had decided my life was whole without the bibs and cribs.  Her arrival was a surprise and coincidentally, I had also recently become ‘single’ in my relationship status.  Suddenly I was living a baby centered life where I was over-diapered and under-sexed, so, I started dating a nice little bakery that lived down the street.  Tulie bakery became my daily dose of fresh air and my moment to share my new bundle with my community. It took hours to pack up, strap her to my chest in the most complicated of contraptions and walk the streets to Tulie for a treat. But, it was worth it. It was the perfect outing that wiped us both out and a long nap followed without fail.
The orange cinnamon bun put the first fifteen pounds on and then I converted to the Almond croissant (which I am certain is 80 proof), adding the last ten pounds.
Maxx is two now, I also have a nanny and I have slowed my Tulie attendance to just a Sunday here and there. I am thinning down in preparation of dating once again; it is time. Tulie will always bring back some of that newborn baby nostalgia in the best way possible. Along with nurturing tastes and culinary comfort, it was a destination in one of the most wonderful and vulnerable times of my life.

We are walking down on Sunday.

You should join us.
