My husband and I have spent a lot of time fostering our relationship with the coffee bean; visiting unique spaces devoted to making that first sip a complete sensory experience. Around our house, we consider coffee to be one of the essential food groups. We keep a running list of our favorites when we travel; Stumptown Coffee in Portland for both taste and perfect espresso to foam ratio, Dutch Bros drive-thru up the coast of Oregon for its’ customer experience and Kahlua Kicker, and of course Starbucks, where our love affair with coffee and each other, truly began. And so, as we brought our family to Salt Lake City, our first mission was to find our favorite corners of downtown where we could procure the best cup of coffee. We’ve spent mornings at the Rose Establishment on 400 South, enjoyed many cups at the Starbucks at City Creek for its’ unique Clover machine, and this past weekend, decided to make a trip to Nobrow’s new location at W 900 S. Aside from its’ delicious coffee offerings, it was worth the trip to simply take in the design. Interior design done by Atlas Architects, and a spot that we couldn’t help but wish we’d visited sooner. My husband enjoyed a personal brew, made on the immaculate Alpha Dominche, a gorgeous brew machine that uncovers flavor profiles specific to each brand of coffee. He chose one of local SLC roasters private label coffees, Charming Beard’s Nekisse, while I enjoyed a Vanilla Latte, syrup poured in from a bottle with real vanilla bean (I took a picture for Instagram). Our little toddler happily sat at the coffee bar, sipping her cup of milk, thrilled that we ventured somewhere with cinnamon rolls. Alas, her appreciation for coffee is still a little premature. But, as we sat and took it all in, we both couldn’t stop talking about how much we loved it…all of it. The coffee. The cafe. The couch spot in the corner, perfect for keeping our kid quarantined. The baristas, who didn’t mind explaining to me how I could make my own vanilla syrup at home. So, if you are looking for a coffee shop that offers a fantastic cup, and makes you feel like you’ve been doing coffee wrong for years, visit Nobrow, and tell them PUREfourhundred sent you. I am certain that you’ll find yourself selecting it as your favorite spot to support your daily habit.
