AT HOME WITH | THE MELLORS

A tractor man at heart, country life has always been a priority for Adobe Executive John Mellor, his wife Kelsi, and their two children.  The challenge is… they also crave the entertainment of city life, food fit for foodies, proximity to an airport, and most of all, entertaining family and friends.  After living in Utah Valley for years, and with their second child on the way, they began to search for the perfect long-term location.  The goal?  Fusing country and city life together to create the dream, “Mellor Ranch.”

Having spent many weekends in Park City, Utah, the Mellors loved the mountains and the energy of Park City, but didn’t see the country life they wanted.  That was until a friend drove them down Park City’s Old Ranch Road – a section of Park City they had never seen – with gorgeous vistas, barns aplenty, and horse property.  They immediately fell in love with the area and felt like Park City could give them everything they wanted to raise their young family, including a school system rated in the top 98 percentile in the nation!

To start this adventure, the Mellor’s turned to PUREfourhundred.  With a multi-faceted group of experts in real estate and design, PUREfourhundred helped them list their Utah Valley home, find the property for their new home, provide creative direction during the architecture phase, and (last but not least) construction (interiors) and interior design.

As they further built the team, the Mellors interviewed architects and decided on Jack Thomas Associates because their track record, style, and process fit perfectly with the Mellors’ vision.  Essentially, the Mellors, and Thomas Associates, started from scratch, maximizing the property’s views to create a home that blended a farmhouse structure with contemporary styling and plenty of features for entertaining.  They were equally as picky with their choice of builders and selected Midway Construction Company to join the team who ultimately turned their vision into reality.

In the end, the team that designed and executed this project was a “dream team” that brought together all aspects of the home with the pristine surroundings of Old Ranch Road. From the spectacular views of every ski resort in Park City to the bordering open space of Swaner Preserve, with the comfort of a perfectly laid out space, the Mellors have truly achieved their Mellor Ranch.
