LA BARBA

The coffee culture here in Salt Lake City garnered some attention recently when it was featured in the New York Times as a place for ‘coffee geeks.’ Mentioned among several other local roasters, Charming Beard was highlighted for their lofty mission to encourage people to taste their coffee sans cream and sugar (their pop up cafe at the Farmer’s Market didn’t offer any). Whether you prefer it black or with a bit of sweet, their roast is certainly superior. That said, we have some good news for coffee lovers! You can now enjoy a cup downtown any day of the week, rather than waiting until the Saturday Market. A late night coffee spot in downtown Salt Lake City was non-existent until this month when Charming Beard opened their own coffee shop inside the new Finca at 327 W 200 South.

La Barba (Spanish for “beard”), not only delivers a gorgeous hangout post concert, ballet, dinner (or whatever else you might find yourself doing on a Friday or Saturday night), but sets itself a part in its coffee offerings as well. At La Barba, you will not find a traditional brewing machine so expect your roast pour over style, and, if you aren’t much of a coffee drinker (gasp!) you can sip on local Mezzo’s, drinking chocolate.

Cafe architecture and interior design by Jared E. Wright features furniture from C.G. Sparks, custom made ceramics by Basin Goods, and succulent arrangements by Native Flowers. We could rave over those rich emerald walls all day long, which pair perfectly with the stainless steel, but lets be honest: they could serve a cup out of the back of a pick up and we’d be pretty happy. Congratulations, Charming Beard on the new cafe! We’ll be seeing you again real soon.

La Barba is open 7 days a week.
